Tableside Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Setout Labs LLC ("Setout Labs", "we", "us") operates the Tableside applications for iOS and Android and this website (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we share it, and the choices and rights you have. In plain terms: your meals are yours: we never sell them or use them to target ads.

We align this Policy with the Apple App Store Review Guidelines (including Guideline 5.1) and the Google Play User Data policies. By using Tableside, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

AI processing and your consent

Tableside is an AI nutrition coach: it uses AI to turn what you describe (and the photos you send) into estimated meals and to answer your nutrition questions. Because this is core to how Tableside works, using these features means the content you submit is processed as described below.

What is sent and to whom

  • Meal descriptions, photos, and coach messages (OpenAI and/or Google). When you log a meal or ask your coach a question, the text or photo you submit, along with metadata needed to route and secure the request, is sent to an AI provider (such as OpenAI and/or Google) to generate the estimate or answer, which is returned to the app.
  • Voice (your device). When you talk to Tableside instead of typing, your device's built-in speech recognition (provided by Apple or Google) converts your speech to text. Tableside receives only the resulting text, which is then handled like any meal you log.

How your content is protected

Each AI provider processes your content under an agreement with us that requires them to use it only to perform the requested task, apply appropriate security, and not retain it beyond what is needed to fulfill the request. They are not authorized to use your content to train their AI models. Photos are processed transiently: a photo of a meal or menu is used to read what is in it and is not retained after the request is fulfilled.

Data we collect

We collect the minimum needed to run Tableside and keep your data in sync across your devices.

Account and authentication

When you set up sync or backup, Tableside asks you to create an account or sign in, with Apple, Google, or an email and password (available options may vary by platform). We receive an account identifier and, where applicable, the email you choose to share, plus your basic preferences and timezone.

What you log

The meals, weights, and notes you record, and the messages you exchange with your coach, are stored to your account so they are there when you return, along with metadata such as timestamps.

Photos

If you send a photo of a meal or menu, it is transmitted to our AI provider to read the contents and is not retained afterward.

Voice

When you talk to Tableside instead of typing, your device's built-in speech recognition (provided by Apple or Google) converts your speech to text. On some devices this happens on the device; on others the audio is processed by Apple's or Google's speech-recognition services under their terms. Tableside receives only the resulting text, which is then handled like any meal you log.

Device, usage, and diagnostics

We collect limited technical data (device type, operating system and app version, language, and interactions with features) to secure the Service and fix problems. We do not log the raw text of your meals to analytics.

Analytics and crash reporting

We use Mixpanel to understand aggregate feature usage in the app, Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage of our website, and Sentry to capture crashes and performance diagnostics. These services receive event metadata and identifiers, not the contents of your meals or messages.

Purchases and subscriptions

If you subscribe, Apple or Google share transaction identifiers, the product you selected, subscription status, and country so we can activate your benefits, and Superwall helps us present and manage paywalls and verify your entitlement. We never receive your full payment card details.

Notifications

If you enable notifications (for example, meal reminders), we store a device token provided by Apple or Firebase to deliver them. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Support

When you contact support, we collect what you send us, along with any attachments and contact details, so we can respond.

We do not intentionally collect precise location, contacts, or other sensitive data unless you include it in a meal, note, or message you choose to send.

How we use your data

  • To log your meals, estimate nutrition, and answer your questions.
  • To sync and back up your data across your devices.
  • To process purchases and manage subscriptions.
  • To maintain, secure, and improve the Service, and to provide support.
  • To send important notices such as security and policy updates, and any reminders you enable.
  • To comply with law and enforce our Terms.

We only send marketing communications with your consent, and you can opt out at any time.

How we share your data

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with providers that help us run Tableside:

  • Supabase, which hosts our database, authentication, and sync, and stores the content you add.
  • AI providers (such as OpenAI and Google), which process the descriptions and photos you submit to estimate nutrition and answer questions.
  • Mixpanel and Google Analytics, to measure aggregate usage with event metadata.
  • Sentry, to monitor crashes and application performance for troubleshooting.
  • Superwall with Apple App Store and Google Play billing, to process subscriptions and verify your entitlement.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging and the Apple Push Notification service, to deliver notifications you enable.
  • Infrastructure, logging, and email vendors under confidentiality obligations.

All providers above operate under agreements that require them to protect your personal data with safeguards that are the same as or equivalent to those described in this Policy.

We may disclose information to comply with law, protect our rights, prevent harm, or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or acquisition. We may publish aggregated or de-identified insights that do not identify you.

Legal bases (EEA/UK)

If you are in the EEA or UK, we process personal data under these bases:

  • Contract: to provide the Service you request, including logging meals, syncing your data, and processing purchases.
  • Legitimate interests: to maintain, improve, and secure Tableside, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent: for optional analytics, marketing communications, or where you connect a third-party sign-in.
  • Legal obligations: to meet accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete content or your account, we remove it from active systems and schedule deletion from backups within a reasonable period (usually within 30 days), except where we must retain records for legal reasons. Server logs and analytics summaries are kept for a limited period to secure the Service. Meal photos are processed transiently and not stored.

International transfers

We store and process data in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required. By using Tableside, you understand that your data may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data-protection rules than your home country.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access, review, or obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of certain personal data, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent or change your marketing and analytics preferences.
  • Receive your information in a portable format.

To make a request, email support@tble.co. We may need to verify your identity, and authorized agents may submit requests for California residents with proof of authority.

Account deletion

You can delete individual meals in the app, and you can delete your entire account and its data from the app's settings (in compliance with Apple and Google requirements). Deleting your account removes your meals, notes, and device tokens from active systems within a reasonable period (usually within 30 days) unless we must retain certain records for legal reasons. Signing out or uninstalling removes the locally cached copy on that device. If you no longer have access to the app, email support@tble.co and we'll help.

Children

Tableside is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn we have, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided data should contact us.

Security

We use safeguards including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; keep your sign-in safe and tell us if you suspect unauthorized access.

Changes

We may update this Policy as the product evolves. For material changes we'll give notice in the app or by email before they take effect, and we'll revise the date above. Continuing to use Tableside after changes take effect means you accept the revised Policy.

Governing law

This Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, except where mandatory local data-protection law applies.

Contact

Setout Labs LLC is the controller of your personal data. Email support@tble.co with any questions or requests. If you have unresolved privacy concerns, you may also contact your local data protection authority.
